We are moving in a month! I'm so excited. Jimmy will be doing his residency in Toledo, Ohio. We went out to look for a house two weeks ago. We looked at seven houses the first day and we fell in love with a three bedroom ranch. It was not what we were expecting to like! The pictures online were not great and I added it to our list at the last minute not really thinking much of it. But the layout is great and even though it's only 1400 square feet, it has a huge unfinished basement (another 1400 square feet) for storage.
So we saw a few more houses, slept on it, and decided to make an offer on our second day out there.
We were expecting to wait a while. We were shocked when our realtor called back with a counter offer about two hours later. So we countered, and then they agreed to our offer.
The next morning we were under contract! We had planned to stay for four days, but since everything went so quickly we went home a day early.
The next week we had an inspection. There were no major issues, but we asked for a few repairs. We just heard back from the sellers that almost all the work has been done. Next week we should get an appraisal done on the house.
I can't believe how smoothly everything has gone. I know this is not normal. We feel so blessed that this whole process has been relatively painless. There is hope for other people that buying a house can actually be fun!

So happy for you guys! I am jealous of the unfinished basement, that will be so nice to expand if you want/need.
